Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
-
We started BLive Music to support musicians in their careers and help them grow. One of the key ways we found to help them succeed was to have a second person—a host—to manage the promotion and run the controls while also guiding the conversation to make for a more engaging performance.
-
We see the host taking on two roles.
- Scheduling and promotion. While the performer should share the show with their networks, the host can offer a wider reach and additional channels
- Inside the show. BLive has a pre-show room to check sound levels and screen placement, but also mentally prepare the performer before going live. Once live, the host provides that connection between artist and audience with conversation and promoting the artist’s brand.
-
On a recent show, the host and the band really had a great chemistry—enough so that the singer dropped off a t-shirt at the hosts house as a token of thanks. The host got bragging rights about having a relationship with the band, which has given him further incentive to promote and talk about them. That feeling of connectedness, of being able to help out musicians he loves, drives many of the people who host BLive shows.

As a host, you don’t have to pay a thing. We want to see musicians succeed, and you are key to guiding them to success.

Yes! BLive has a tipping feature right on the show screen that enables people to send a few bucks through PayPal or e-transfer (in Canada). By default, the performer and host will split the tips but you can opt how much should go to the performer. By the way, as host it is up to you to request those tips during the show.
